Mount
Beiniuding is located in the
northeast of Funing County. It is 965 meters
above sea level, with the Great Wall winding
all the way over it. The Dragon Pool lies
by the way to the top of the mountain, the
cliff of which is so steep as being cut by
axes. In summer, the Waterfall falls down
the canyon, full of power and grandeur. The
pool is 10 meters deep, clear and cool, and
two large characters ¡°Dragon pool¡± are carved
on the eastern cliff. Beside the cliff stand
two steles. Over the pool lies a newly-built
Rainbow Bridge, leading to Wangyu Pavilion.
On the north of the path lies the stone Dragon
King Temple, which was rebuilt in 1985.
The scenic sight consists of views like Dragon
Pool, Yansai Forest of Stones, Green Corridor,
Beiniuding Top, etc. They are famous for their
scenery and terrain of difficult access. Every
spring beautiful flowers and rare grass cover
the mountain, with different birds singing
around. A 70-meter-long hanging ladder rises
from the foot like a huge dragon. Other marvelous
views are also worth a visit: the forest of
steles built in Qing Dynasty, deep and shallow
stone wells with water all year round, Guandi
Temple, Guanyin Palace,¡
